We now have a Wave unit, and we'll be trying to get SportyPal to run on it :)

Edit: Looks like it runs fine - except for it not receiving coordinates when the standby mode kicks in. We'll see what we can do about that.

Edit: Okay so we managed to get a decent workout out of our Wave unit.

It involved a new beta of SportyPal (Java), which can be downloaded (directly to the device) here:

http://sportypal.com/dow...j2me-beta/sportypal.jar

Here is how we managed to coerce GPS into working:

1) Go to Settings -> Connectivity -> Location -> My position. Or download the app GPS Status, run it, go to "..." to bring the menu up and choose "Start GPS" (this tends to work much better)
2) Wait for some Latitude and Longitude numbers to appear (but they shouldn't be 0). In GPS Status wait for some satelite bars to turn green.
3) Run SportyPal.

This new version has a new option in My Profile / Settings. Besides "Unit system" and "Language", there is also "Prevent standby". It will need to be turned on for Wave.

4) After configuring this setting, start a new workout normally. Initializing GPS should take about 5-10 seconds and you can start afterwards. SportyPal will track normally and the screen will not automatically go in keylock state. However, if you switch to another app GPS will stop working (this will be addressed)

Unfortunately the touch screen will be active and the display will not turn off either. Also, pressing the lock button will cause the app to stop receiving coordinates.

Since SportyPal v2.0 (in development) already has a "keylock-like" feature which prevents accidental pauses and stops on a touch-screen, and Wave has an OLED screen which means displaying a black image will conserve almost all battery power spent by the screen, we think we should have it decently working on Bada for v2.0 :)
