I do a lot of running and snowboarding and I was tired of my ipod's ear buds popping out. That's no longer an issue. The speakers telescope in and out and tile up and down for a perfect fit and if you want to be able to hear surrounding outside noise you just tilt them away from your ears. They are loud enough to keep you from hearing outside noise if you have them in your ear"
